L2 switche s managementem
L2 switche s managementem pracují na druhé, tj. linkové (spojové) vrstvě modelu ISO/OSI. Přepínání provádí na základě MAC adres. Inteligentní L2 switch, označovaný také jako L2/L4, umí pracovat i s informacemi ze 3. a 4. vrstvy. Ty jsou využívané např. funkcemi ACL, IP Source Guard, DHCP Snooping, MVR, ARP Inspection atd.
